Meet kiM Finucan, LPC, LPCS, NBCCH, C-DBT, CCTP II, MIP

You don’t have to figure this out all on your own.

I’m Kim, (she/her), a licensed professional counselor and supervisor in South Carolina. I am a values-driven counselor & business executive who has amassed significant clinical and healthcare leadership experience. With a career in behavioral health that began in community mental health, my experience encompasses outpatient, inpatient and residential settings, as well as, growing and selling my private practice. A fulfilling part of my career has been working with clients, supervisees and teams to empower change.

In my executive experience, I managed multi-state health practices with direct responsibility for growth, planning, execution, profit and loss, operations, and strategic business development. I led teams of clinicians and office administration in more than 25 outpatient offices while growing businesses across the Southern Region of the United States. With this experience comes an acute ability to identify quality improvements based on operational imperatives that impact clinical healthcare delivery without losing the focus on client care.

For more than 20 years, I have designed healthcare business policies & procedures aimed at:

  • Improving patient lives

  • Reducing provider burnout

  • Fortifying the financial health of the organization

  • Walking with clients on their wellness journey

  • Guiding supervisees on their professional journey

How I work

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I change.”

~Carl Rogers

The curious paradox is like a puzzle that seems strange at first but makes sense when you think about it. It says that when I fully embrace and accept myself, flaws and all, that's when I become open to change and growth.

Imagine you have a messy room. If you keep denying that it's messy or trying to hide it, you won't feel motivated to clean it up. But when you finally accept that it's messy and acknowledge it without judgment, you become more willing to take action and tidy up.

Similarly, when we accept ourselves for who we are, with all our imperfections and struggles, it creates a sense of peace and self-compassion. And from that place of self-acceptance, we're more open to learning, growing, and making positive changes in our lives. It's like giving ourselves permission to be imperfect and embracing the journey of authenticity without harsh self-criticism.
